Website: http://GeorgiaConfederate.org Email mike at: mikecrane@tds.net Phone: 706-374-2640 or cell: 706-851-9206 Dear Southerners—Americans All!! April 1-31, 2009, is Confederate History Month throughout the USA!! Are you tired of the attacks against the symbols and heritage, of Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson and Jefferson Davis? Southerners were once portrayed in a positive manner in movies, TV and the news media but that seems to be a thing of the past. Isn’t it about time to take our stand for Dixie and get Confederate History Month recognized in the mainstream media? With your help we can do it!! Let’s do it for young folks and all Americans. They need to know the truth. How can we get Confederate History Month on the air? Some have actually been successful in getting CHHM minutes on the radio but what about TV? The main stream media does a fine join airing Black History Month moments during the month of February. There is no reason why the same cannot be done for Confederate History Month. I am going to contact the media about the procedure in doing this. Keep reading here and see how a SCV camp came up with audio tapes last April for radio airing and how we were asked to read Confederate History Month minutes on a South Georgia radio station. You can find Confederate History Month minutes to use on our website: http://confederateheritagemonth.com Let’s get Confederate History minutes on all radio stations in 2009 and TV in 2010. It is time to get Confederate History Month, that is about the history of our: Black, White, Hispanic, Native American and Jewish forefathers and mothers who served the Confederacy, in news print and on air. Did you know that the Congress of the United States has, in days past, recognized Confederate soldiers as American soldiers? The Confederate soldier, like his Union counterpart, was entitled to and did receive a pension. Both Union and Confederate soldiers were admired by many American people all around the nation and by our allies throughout the world. The history of Dixie is still studied around the world. The attack against our Southern Heritage is also against the “Soldier’s Flag!” Good Patriotic Americans are outraged when the USA flag is misused. The same outrage should also be shown when the Confederate Battle flag, the soldier’s flag, is maligned. A good example is the reaction of the Confederate Battle flag raising in Tampa, Florida. The fact is our Confederate soldier’s flag is not only A “PROUD HISTORICAL SYMBOL” but also quite a beautiful symbol of Southern Valor to behold. It is also a “Christian Symbol” that is many times correctly referred as the Cross of Saint Andrews. But, sometimes, is also mistakenly referred to as the “Stars and Bars.” The 1st National Confederate flag is actually the Stars and Bars. It is an honor to announce that the National Commander of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, the honorable Chuck McMichael, and the Commander of the Georgia Division Sons of Confederate Veterans, the honorable Jack Bridwell, has appointed me to serve as Confederate History Month Chairman for 2009-2010. The committee is now on the move for April, 2009, and needs your help to make it really work. We want to hear from you. Go to our web page for the listing of CHHM members. Now, what do you say that wethe offensive for a change? You can help by making a copy of this letter and distribute to all you know and ask that all camps of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and chapters of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and all historical groups’ sign up for updates at: http://confederateheritagemonth.com You can also email me at: cjohnson1861@bellsouth.net or call me at: 770 428 0978. My cell phone is: 770 330 9792 Among the items on our website, your web page, are the many news reports from 2008 that include those in several states that got Confederate History Month minutes on the radio. Here is the one from Maryland during April 2008: Confederate Heritage Month on the air - Maryland, Delaware and Virginia - audio available I just wanted to let you know that the Salisbury, MD Arnold Elzey Camp #1940 and I are working together to broadcast Confederate Heritage and History Month announcements on several radio stations on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, broadcasting from Dover, Delaware south to the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Jeff Davis,1404, Gainesville, GA Chairman, SCV Public and Media Relations Committee Working on a Confederate History Month audio. We will try to produce Confederate History Month recordings for all who desire them. Mike Crane, our CHHM Co-Chairman is pursuing this idea. We hope to have a CD recording available that you can take to the radio stations. Maybe in 2010, we can do a DVD for TV. You can contact CHHM Co-Chairman Mike Crane at: mikecrane@tds.net Send attachment copies of Confederate Heritage Month proclamations to: proclamations@confederateheritagemonth.com Wouldn’t it be great to see in 2009, many thousands of proclamations signed by city, county and state governments? You can find a sample proclamation for your Governor, Mayor or Commissioner at our website. When you contact these good folks, ask that the proclamation be presented publicly at a commission or city council meet. Many of these are aired live and that means great publicity for what we are doing. Also ask the media to cover the event. Ask your state governor to do the same. To commemorate Confederate History Month, many people held Memorial Services, gave talks to school children and make announcements at their church of the many events held during April. You can also do the same. Do you know of Confederate Reenactors who can give talks attired with Confederate uniform and women with period dress? Please help us start planning, now, for next year. Let's make "Confederate History Month 2009"time that will be talked about and remembered for a long time to come. My thanks to Mike Crane who has helped make April, Confederate History Month, a month to remember and to all the CHHM Committee members. 2015 is the 150th Anniversary of the end of the War Between the States. Please check the Sons of Confederate Veterans National webpage at: www.scv.org and Georgia Division at: http://www.georgiascv.com. And don’t forget the Georgia Confederate at: http://GeorgiaConfederate.org
Let’s make Confederate History Month a national observance. God Bless and Have a Dixie Day!! |
